McLaren reportedly to discontinue Artura hybrid supercar by 2028

McLaren is reportedly planning to discontinue its Artura hybrid supercar in 2028, just six years after its market launch. The decision follows a difficult introduction for the model, which was plagued by repeated delays and significant quality issues. At one point in late 2022, former CEO Michael Leiters admitted that production had been halted to address these technical problems.

The Artura was intended to attract a younger, tech-focused demographic by combining a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine with an electric motor. As the company reshuffles its lineup under CEO Nick Collins, it appears to be shifting its strategy toward new models.

A successor is reportedly in development, codenamed “P34,” which is expected to arrive in 2027. This upcoming hybrid coupe is anticipated to be more powerful, potentially exceeding 800 horsepower.
