McLaren targets improvement for Austrian GP while Ferrari leads championship
Team principal Andrea Stella said McLaren must enhance aerodynamic grip and tyre management after the Barcelona test. He highlighted that the Red Bull Ring in Austria will demand stability, braking and cornering performance.
Lando Norris, who finished third in Spain, expressed confidence that McLaren can close the gap, but noted the team still trails Ferrari in medium‑speed and slower sections. Stella acknowledged Ferrari’s current chassis advantage, especially in medium‑speed corners, while McLaren remains competitive in high‑speed turns.
The Austrian Grand Prix offers McLaren an opportunity to apply upgrades and address tyre degradation, aiming to challenge Ferrari, which currently holds the strongest package on the grid.
