McLaren unveils McL 6GT concept at Monterey Car Week

McLaren has unveiled the McL 6GT, a new concept model presented at Monterey Car Week in California. The vehicle is a modern reinterpretation of the brand’s unfinished road car vision from the 1960s, specifically inspired by the M6GT prototype.

Moving away from the trend of extreme electronic control, the McL 6GT emphasizes a primitive driving experience. It features a mid-mounted V8 engine, rear-wheel drive, and a manual transmission—the first since the McLaren F1. The design utilizes a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque and dihedral doors, maintaining a low, wide profile that honors its historical roots while employing contemporary aesthetics.

A production version of the McL 6GT is scheduled to be released in 2028.
