McLaren urges caution ahead of Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix
McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella has expressed caution ahead of the upcoming Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Despite the recent strong performance of the MCL40, which included consecutive victories for Lando Norris at the Hungaroring and Zandvoort, Stella warns that the technical requirements of Monza differ significantly from previous circuits.
While recent tracks favored high aerodynamic downforce and cornering stability, Monza requires a low-drag configuration due to the high percentage of the lap spent at full throttle and the necessity of heavy braking into chicanes. Stella noted that the team is focusing on a “one race at a time” approach, stating that success in Monza would provide optimism for the remainder of the season.
In the drivers' standings, Lando Norris currently sits in fourth place with 159 points, while Oscar Piastri is in seventh with 104 points. McLaren currently holds third place in the constructors' championship.
