McLaren W1 hypercar confirmed for Australia

McLaren has confirmed that Australia-bound examples of the new W1 hypercar have been commissioned. While specific quantities remain undisclosed, a spokesperson for McLaren in Australia stated that local clients have ordered bespoke models through McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

The W1 is the successor to the McLaren P1 and the F1, with a global production limit of only 399 units. All build slots were reportedly allocated shortly after the vehicle's reveal in October 2024.

Technically, the W1 features a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with a motorsport-derived electric motor. This hybrid setup produces a combined 938kW and 1340Nm of torque. The vehicle utilizes an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 350km/h.
