McLaughlin's Lobster Shack in Maine closes after decades
McLaughlin's Lobster Shack, a prominent family-owned seafood restaurant in Lincolnville, Maine, has permanently closed. Operating in the same family since 1956, the establishment was one of the two most recognizable historical restaurants in the town.
Owner Rick McLaughlin stated via social media that health concerns prompted the decision to step away after decades of operation. The business and its real estate are scheduled to be auctioned on October 2. If no satisfactory bids are received, the site may be repurposed for other ventures.
In a related development, Bayley's Seafood in Scarborough, Maine, also announced its permanent closure on August 20. The restaurant had faced challenges following the death of its patriarch in 2021.
