McLean woman found dead in parking lot near Great Falls

Fairfax County police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead in a parking area in McLean, Virginia, on Monday morning, August 17, 2026. The victim was discovered around 7:00 a.m. in the 8800 block of Georgetown Pike, an area providing access to several trails near Great Falls.

A community member out for a morning run discovered the woman lying next to her vehicle and alerted authorities. Captain Jason Chandler reported that the victim had sustained trauma to her upper body and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While the identity of the woman has not been released, investigators stated there is “no immediate indication that this was a random act.” Detectives are currently following various leads to determine the circumstances surrounding the death and the exact time of the incident.
