McMorris and Vidts lead after first day at Décastar in Talence

The first day of the 50th anniversary Décastar in Talence, France, concluded with highly competitive standings in both the decathlon and heptathlon. In the men's decathlon, Hakim McMorris leads the field with 4,471 points, holding a narrow 44-point margin over France's Makenson Gletty (4,427 points). Sander Skotheim of Norway sits in third place with 4,414 points, leaving only 57 points separating the top three competitors.

In the women's heptathlon, Noor Vidts holds a slim 14-point lead over Nafissatou Thiam, with Vidts at 3,830 points and Thiam at 3,816.

McMorris recorded a 10.55 in the 100m and a 46.77 in the 400m, the latter being one of the strongest performances of the day. Gletty achieved a personal best in the high jump at 2.06m, while Skotheim posted the day's best long jump at 7.89m. Italian athlete Dario Dester currently sits in tenth place in the decathlon with 4,167 points.
