McPherson’s Limited loses Federal Court ruling in ASIC proceedings
The Federal Court of Australia has ruled in favor of the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) in legal proceedings against McPherson’s Limited and a former Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. The case concerns events that took place in 2020.
McPherson’s, which owns brands such as ‘Manicare’, ‘Swisspers’, and ‘Dr. LeWinn’s’, stated that it has since undergone significant renewal in its board and management. The company is currently considering the judgment and may pursue appeal rights. While no specific orders have been made yet, a future hearing will be held to determine penalties.
As a result of the ruling, McPherson’s expects to record a $2 million provision in its FY26 financial statements as an estimate for potential penalties. However, the company noted that the final amount determined by the court could be materially higher or lower than this estimate.
