MDB officially nominates José Eustáquio for Brazil's 2026 Federal Deputy race

The Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB) confirmed José Eustáquio de Faria Júnior as its candidate for the 2026 federal deputy elections in Minas Gerais. The former Patos de Minas city councilor, who received 18,220 votes in 2022, aims to increase his support to around 40,000 votes, focusing on agribusiness, health, education and municipal development.

A separate tribute highlighted the career of Patrus Ananias, former mayor of Belo Horizonte, minister under Presidents Lula and Dilma, and current federal deputy. The piece recalled his emphasis on listening to citizens, the creation of the city's first popular restaurant, and his role in national social programs such as Fome Zero and Bolsa Família.
