Médicos del Mundo highlights migrant health barriers
The humanitarian organization Médicos del Mundo, in collaboration with artist Alexa Forero, has launched an art installation titled ‘La cuerpa que migra’ at the National Council to Prevent Discrimination (CONAPRED). The project aims to highlight the barriers faced by migrant women, girls, adolescents, and LGBTIQ+ individuals regarding access to sexual and reproductive health rights in Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
The installation is based on research conducted by Médicos del Mundo following the treatment of 19,739 cases related to sexual and reproductive health in the region between 2021 and 2025. Key findings from the accompanying report indicate that 93% of pregnant migrant women lack access to basic nutrition. The project utilizes data visualization to translate these statistics and personal life stories into a visual language intended to sensitize the public to the human reality behind the numbers.
