Meal timing and circadian rhythms linked to weight loss

Scientific research suggests that meal timing may play a role in weight loss and metabolic health due to the body's 24-hour circadian rhythms, which influence glucose metabolism and appetite regulation.

A meta-analysis published in JAMA Network Open, involving 2,485 participants from 29 randomized clinical trials, examined three strategies: time-restricted eating, reducing meal frequency, and consuming more calories earlier in the day. The findings indicated that both time-restricted intake and front-loading calories were associated with greater weight reduction compared to control groups.

However, researchers noted that the results were relatively small and emphasized that the clinical significance remains uncertain. While timing is a factor, the total quantity and quality of nutrition remain the most critical elements for weight management.
