Brazil launches 2026 Multivaccination Campaign amid measles alert
Brazil has launched its 2026 Multivaccination Campaign to update immunization records for children and adolescents under 15. The campaign, which runs until September 1, includes a national 'D-Day' scheduled for August 22. The Ministry of Health has distributed 1.5 million doses for this specific mobilization, as part of a larger allocation of over 180 million doses for the year. The initiative offers 20 different immunizations from the National Vaccination Schedule.
Health authorities have issued heightened alerts due to the circulation of measles in the state of São Paulo, which has recorded 23 confirmed cases in 2026. In response, the state government has implemented an indiscriminate vaccination strategy for residents of São Paulo, Guarulhos, and São Bernardo do Campo. This strategy targets individuals aged 6 months to 59 years, regardless of their previous vaccination history.
Other regions, such as Paraná, have already reported significant progress, with 55,000 doses administered in the first week. In the Distrito Federal, authorities remain on high alert to prevent the introduction of the virus, noting that current vaccination coverage for children remains below the 95% target.
