Measles vaccination push grows amid fatalities in Bangladesh and rising immunisation in Barbados

In Bangladesh, the measles death toll has risen to 36 as a nationwide measles-rubella vaccination drive is set to begin tomorrow. The government says it aims to bring all children under measles vaccination coverage, with 93,788 children targeted under the Measles-Rubella campaign. The measles wave has pressured public hospitals, while private facilities have been largely unused.

In Barbados, immunisation coverage for measles increased in 2025, viewed as a positive development by health authorities as efforts continue to restore national coverage to 95 percent and above.
