MEB-AGS exam results controversy sparks parliamentary inquiry
Controversy has erupted following the announcement of the 2026 Ministry of National Education Academy Entrance Exam (MEB-AGS) and Teacher Field Knowledge Test (ÖABT) results. After being released on August 26, the results were quickly removed from the ÖSYM website following widespread reports of calculation errors.
ÖSYM announced that the weights of six sub-tests were incorrectly calculated and that scores would be recalculated. The Eğitim-İş union criticized the situation as “institutional insincerity,” alleging that the 2026 exam was evaluated using the 2025 question distribution and that hundreds of thousands of teachers had their scores miscalculated.
The issue has reached the Turkish Grand National Assembly. İYİ Party MP Metin Ergun submitted a parliamentary inquiry to Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, citing a serious loss of public confidence. Similarly, YENİ Party MP Suat Özçağdaş demanded a full and transparent explanation from both ÖSYM and the Ministry, arguing that the error cannot be dismissed as a mere “technical glitch.”
Critics, including Eğitim-İş, have also directed blame toward the Ministry's new National Education Academy model, arguing it makes the teacher employment process increasingly fragile and uncertain.
