MEC Livros launches special section for Brazilian folklore

MEC Livros has launched a special section titled ‘Lendas do Brasil’ (Legends of Brazil) to centralize works regarding Brazilian popular culture and folklore. The section, which went live on August 3, organizes 15 existing titles from the platform's collection to facilitate easier access to themes of national heritage.

Since the section's inception, the collection has seen a significant surge in engagement. Daily openings increased from an average of 6.3 to 73.4, representing an 11.7-fold increase in demand. Data shows the books have been opened 2,012 times by 1,987 different readers, with 472 instances where users accessed at least 90% of a work's content.

The most accessed title is ‘O livro de Ouro do Folclore Brasileiro’ by Sylvio Panza. Other notable works included in the collection are ‘Lendas do Brasil’ by Elsa Pestana Magalhães and Celia Ruiz Ibáñez, and ‘Descobrindo as Lendas do Brasil’ by Fernanda Emediato. The initiative coincides with August, the month in which Brazil celebrates Folklore Day on August 22.
