Meccha Chameleon sells 10 million copies in 16 days on Steam
Japanese indie game Meccha Chameleon, released on 10 June, reached more than 10 million sales on Steam within 16 days, according to its developers. The title was created by a two‑person team—Lemorion (maps and models) and Haganeiro (system and gameplay)—in just two months and relied on organic word‑of‑mouth, wish‑list traffic and streamer exposure rather than paid marketing.
The game peaked at 340,534 concurrent players and recorded a 24‑hour high of 280,840, placing it among the most active titles on Steam, ahead of major releases such as Apex Legends and Overwatch. It uses Epic Online Services for its multiplayer infrastructure. The combination of low price, simple yet original hide‑in‑plain‑sight mechanics and a distinctive cartoony visual style has driven both sales and a wave of memes on social media.
