Mechanic Juan José Ebenezer advises on car AC use and tire age for safety and savings

Mechanic and social‑media influencer Juan José Ebenezer explains a simple car‑air‑conditioning trick: a few seconds before stopping the vehicle, turn off the AC compressor button while keeping the fan running. This allows the evaporator to dry, preventing moisture buildup, bacterial growth, foul odours and unnecessary pressure, which can extend system life and save fuel costs.

He also highlights the importance of the four‑digit code printed on tyre sidewalls. The first two digits indicate the production week and the last two the year of manufacture (e.g., 2321 means week 23 of 2021). Knowing a tyre’s age helps drivers assess rubber wear, as tyres harden over time regardless of mileage, reducing grip and safety in braking, cornering or wet conditions. Checking this code when buying or inspecting tyres is a basic safety measure.
