Mechernich to host large-scale disaster protection exercise

The Euskirchen district is conducting a large-scale disaster protection exercise in Mechernich on Saturday, September 12. Approximately 200 to 250 emergency responders will participate in a simulated scenario involving the treatment of numerous injured persons.

The exercise aims to test the cooperation between various organizations under realistic conditions, including the Mechernich fire department, the German Red Cross, the Malteser Hilfsdienst, the THW, and the DLRG. Authorities have noted that residents should expect an increased presence of emergency vehicles with blue lights around the Gymnasium Am Turmhof starting at approximately 12:15 PM, but emphasized that there is no cause for alarm.
