Mecklenburg-Vorpommern organic farms host 19th Bio-Landpartie

The 19th Bio-Landpartie in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern drew several thousand visitors to 57 organic farms and businesses on Saturday. Participants engaged with organic farmers and gardeners, observed livestock, and harvested their own fruits and vegetables.

Participating entities included dairies, bakeries, mills, butcheries, apiaries, and nurseries. Notable attractions included ecological livestock farming, such as mobile chicken coops in Selow and water buffalo grazing near Rerik. Visitors also focused on on-farm processing at various bakeries and mills.

The Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz (BUND) noted a positive response and friendly atmosphere across all participating farms. However, the organization highlighted that while there are 395 certified organic processing businesses in the region, this represents only two percent of total businesses, suggesting a need for more regional organic processing capacity.
