Mecpower Solutions to build 5 GWh battery storage plant in Gujarat

Mecpower Solutions Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Gujarat to establish a battery‑energy‑storage system (BESS) assembly facility at Karjan. The plant is planned with a 5 GWh capacity and an investment of roughly INR 160 crore.

The project is intended to strengthen India’s domestic manufacturing of large‑scale storage solutions, supporting the country’s renewable‑energy expansion and grid‑stability goals. Managing Director Setul Shah said the MoU marks a key step toward a “future‑ready energy infrastructure” and reflects confidence in India’s clean‑energy growth story.
