Medan Mayor inspects Jalan Gaperta drainage construction

Medan Mayor Rico Waas inspected the ongoing drainage system construction on Jalan Gaperta in the Medan Helvetia district to ensure the project progresses effectively to mitigate local flooding and water pooling.

The project involves significantly increasing the capacity of the existing drainage system. The previous 80 cm channels are being replaced with concrete u-ditch structures measuring 120 cm in width and 140 cm in depth. This expansion is intended to facilitate better water absorption and increase the volume of water the system can hold.

The construction spans 1,047 meters, connecting the intersection of Jalan Kapten Muslim to the intersection of Jalan Beringin. The materials used include 1,002 meters of concrete u-ditch and 45 meters of box culverts. To prevent structural interference, the Medan City Government is coordinating with PLN to relocate several electricity poles located along the construction path.
