Medan Mayor Rico Waas pushes for rapid development and structured micro-business support

Medan Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas is pushing for the immediate implementation of community aspirations and more structured micro-business financing models.

During a plenary session of the Medan City Council (DPRD), the Mayor instructed regional agencies to map out and execute development programs derived from legislative recess reports. He emphasized that programs capable of being implemented immediately should be executed without delay to ensure citizen welfare.

In a separate initiative regarding economic empowerment, the Mayor met with leadership from PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) Medan. He proposed transforming ultra-micro business financing from simple capital injections into a structured system. To ensure business sustainability, the Medan City Government plans to collaborate with PNM to develop standardized business modules—covering operations, marketing, and branding—similar to a micro-franchise model. This approach aims to prevent business failures and ensure recipients can manage and sustain their enterprises effectively.
