Medan Mayor urges youth to resist drugs and online gambling

During the 48th anniversary of the Generasi Muda Forum Komunikasi Putra Putri Purnawirawan dan Putra Putri TNI-Polri (GM FKPPI) in Medan, Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas issued a call to action for the city's youth to resist the threats of narcotics and online gambling.

In a written speech delivered by M. Sofyan, the Assistant for Government and People's Welfare, the Mayor emphasized that young people should serve as drivers of development through discipline, integrity, and self-potential. The message highlighted that digital temptations, such as online gambling, can easily disrupt futures and lead to debt, while narcotics destroy health and social productivity.

The event, held at Lapangan Merdeka Medan, included a fun walk to promote fitness and strengthen community bonds. The local government urged the youth to focus on productive activities such as working, studying, organizing, and exercising to avoid negative behaviors that harm themselves, their families, and society.
