Medan Police uncover Cambodian-linked online gambling ring

The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut) have dismantled an online gambling operation operating out of an apartment in Medan. During a raid on October 12, 2026, at the Grand Jati Junction Apartment, investigators apprehended five men—identified by the initials HH, MRL, RHS, SH, and WAS—who allegedly served as cashiers.

These individuals were responsible for processing player deposits and managing payout requests. According to Ditressiber Polda Sumut Director Kombes Pol. Bayu Wicaksono, the suspects are believed to be part of an international syndicate originating from Cambodia that traveled to Indonesia specifically to conduct these illegal activities. Each suspect reportedly earned a monthly salary of Rp 10 million, supplemented by bonuses for meeting specific targets.

Preliminary investigations suggest the operation began around October 8, 2026, under the direction of a fugitive identified only by the initial Wendi. The police action was initiated following reports from the public regarding suspicious activities within the residential complex.
