Medellín aims to become a global urban innovation laboratory

Medellín is implementing a strategic roadmap to establish itself as a leading technological innovation hub in Latin America. The city currently hosts over 785 technology startups focusing on digital transformation, urban management, and mobility.

To support this growth, the city is developing a new urban testing zone. This space will allow for the experimentation of technological solutions in real-world environments before they are scaled to other neighborhoods or public services. The strategy seeks to bridge the gap between entrepreneurs, investors, and public institutions to ensure innovations address practical daily challenges for residents.

In Brazil, the Center for Industry, Commerce, and Services of Bento Gonçalves (CIC-BG) will host a lecture on November 4 regarding Medellín’s urban transformation. Experts Jean-Édouard Tromme and Santiago Uribe Rocha will discuss how the city integrated mobility, education, and innovation into vulnerable neighborhoods to drive prosperity and social change.
