Medellín family seeks home care transition for hospitalized toddler

A three-year-old girl, Carla Helena Parejo, has been hospitalized at the Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe in Medellín for approximately 16 months due to complex health conditions. The child requires specialized medical support, including a tracheostomy, gastrostomy, mechanical ventilation, and oxygen.

Her family has publicly requested assistance to ensure the continuity of her care outside of the hospital setting. In response, Nueva EPS stated that they are managing the necessary procedures to transition her treatment to her home. A specialized medical team from Preventiva IPS has already conducted an assessment. The EPS noted that they have begun the process of adapting the mechanical ventilator required for the child, which is a critical step before the transfer can be completed.
