Medellín revitalizes 80 parks through community strategy
The ‘Juguemos en el Parque’ strategy is transforming 80 parks in Medellín, Colombia, into community hubs for families. Led by First Lady Margarita María Gómez Marín and operated by Inder, the initiative focuses on providing play activities, coexistence, and protection for children and adolescents.
As part of the 2026 municipal plan, the city prioritized 39 parks for remodeling or adaptation, with 31 already delivered. Through the ‘Tacita de Plata’ program, more than 16,000 square meters of public space—roughly equivalent to two professional soccer fields—have been recovered. Efforts included removing over 500 cubic meters of solid waste, benefiting more than 1,900 minors.
