Medellín strengthens child protection against sexual exploitation

The Medellín Mayor's Office has strengthened initiatives throughout 2026 to prevent the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. So far this year, 11,763 minors from the city's 16 communes and five districts have participated in awareness and training sessions designed to help them understand their rights and identify risks such as sexual recruitment, sextortion, and human trafficking.

The prevention program extends to families, educational institutions, and the tourism sector. Efforts include providing tools to identify risks in digital environments and schools, offering family support, and activating institutional response routes when necessary to create protective environments for minors.
