Medellín water consumption rises as IFX invests in Argentina

In Medellín, Colombia, the first day of relaxed water rationing saw an unexpected increase in consumption. Following a pilot program by Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) to evaluate the feasibility of lifting restrictions due to the El Niño drought, Mayor Federico Gutiérrez reported that demand rose in areas supplied by the Piedras Blancas reservoir. Specifically, consumption increased by 21 liters per household in those sectors, failing to meet the required savings targets.

Meanwhile, in Argentina, IFX has announced an investment of approximately USD 19 million between 2026 and 2027. This is part of a broader USD 400 million regional plan to expand data centers, fiber optics, cloud services, and cybersecurity across Latin America. CEO Samuel Mezrahi stated the investment aims to bolster local capacity for artificial intelligence applications and ensure regional data sovereignty.
