Media Council holds first meeting and fines RTL

The newly formed Media Council of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) held its first meeting, during which it adopted a new set of rules designed to ensure transparency and impartiality. Under the new regulations, the Council will publish not only its decisions and justifications but also the specific names of those voting and any dissenting opinions. Meeting minutes will be made public on the Council's website within three working days of being signed.

During the session, the Council issued a six-million-forint fine to M-RTL Zrt. The penalty was imposed because the broadcaster aired the film ‘Terhes társaság’ in an inappropriate time slot and under the wrong age rating. While the content contained aggressive, violent, and sexual themes, it was incorrectly categorized for audiences under 12 years of age.
