Mediaș Cup hillclimb championship set for October in Romania
The Mediaș Cup, the seventh stage of the National Hillclimb Championship, is scheduled to take place on October 3–4, 2026, on the 3,100-meter Hula Baznei track. The event is organized by the Romanian Automobile Federation in partnership with the Mediaș City Hall.
Radu Benea, driving for Canova Racing, is a primary contender for the Category I tourism title. Currently leading the championship with 136 points, Benea needs a second-place finish in the remaining two stages—Mediaș and Poiana Brașov—to mathematically secure his second consecutive national title. He currently holds the course record at Mediaș with a time of 1:29.812.
The competition includes various divisions, such as Category II monopostos, where Jerome France has already secured the title, and the National Dacia Revival class. The event will also feature junior champion Nicolas Benea competing in Group 3.
Due to the races, traffic restrictions will be implemented on the DN14 road toward Târnăveni. On Saturday, October 3, the road will be closed from 07:30 to 19:30, and on Sunday, October 4, from 08:00 to 18:30, with brief periods of temporary reopening scheduled during both days.
