Media organizations host seminars on digital fact-checking and social media security

Various regional authorities and media organizations have held seminars focused on the challenges of information verification and the impact of social media on society and national security.

The Ministry of Government Communication, in collaboration with Madraj for Digital Media Leadership, organized a seminar titled “Verifying News and Information in the Digital Age.” The event addressed the rapid flow of digital content, the rise of citizen journalism, and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence in creating content that is difficult to distinguish from reality. Dr. Majd Al-Amad noted that these efforts align with the second national strategy for media and information literacy, aiming to transform media awareness into daily practical skills.

In another initiative, the Gharbia Media Department conducted an awareness seminar titled “Social Media and Its Impact on National Security” in Basyoun. The session focused on the role of religious, cultural, and media institutions in combating the misuse of social media, spreading rumors, and disseminating misleading content. Participants discussed the importance of critical thinking and the necessity of verifying sources to prevent the spread of extremist ideas and social instability.
