Media outlets sue White House over revoked press credentials

CNN, MS NOW, and Politico have filed lawsuits in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia following their expulsion from the White House. The media organizations are seeking an emergency injunction to restore their access to the presidential complex after their credentials were deactivated.

The legal challenge centers on potential violations of the First Amendment and due process. The media outlets argue that the administration is restricting access based on unfavorable reporting. In response, President Donald Trump defended the decision, stating his actions are directed at “fake news,” which he characterized as a threat to national security, rather than an attack on a free press.

Major television networks, including ABC, CBS, Fox News, and NBC, issued a joint statement supporting the principle of independent reporting, asserting that no administration should restrict news organizations due to objections to their coverage. While the legal battle proceeds, presidential events will continue to be covered with limited access by print, radio, and news agencies.
