Media professionals gather in Balıkesir for international journalism forum

At the International Forum of Academics, Journalists, and Media Representatives held in Balıkesir, Turkey, officials and media professionals gathered to discuss the evolving media landscape and honor contributions to journalism.

Abdulkadir Çay, General Manager of the Press Advertisement Agency (BİK), emphasized the importance of protecting journalists' labor and copyrights. He highlighted the critical role of local media in preserving regional history and serving the public interest. Çay noted that BİK provided nearly 100 million Lira in official advertisement and announcement support to newspapers and internet news sites in Balıkesir during the first seven months of 2026 to ensure their sustainability.

During the event, which marked the 10th anniversary of the Balıkesir Journalists and Writers Association, Agil Alesger was honored with the ‘International Media and Communication Award’. Alesger, a media executive and member of the Azerbaijan Press Council, received the award for his contributions to developing media cooperation within the Turkic world and strengthening international communication ties. The ceremony included representatives from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan.
