Media regulators in DRC and Burkina Faso advance regional broadcasting

Media regulatory authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burkina Faso have taken significant steps regarding the regional media landscape.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Christian Bosembe, president of the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel et de la communication (CSAC), participated in a panel discussing the future of journalism during the tenth anniversary of ACTUALITE. CD. Bosembe commended the outlet for its role in verifying information and combating disinformation, noting its evolution into a reliable reference in the Congolese media landscape.

In Burkina Faso, the Conseil supérieur de la communication (CSC) authorized the Pan-African News Networks Global (PANNG) to launch web-based television and radio services. Represented by Dr. Arikana Chiedzo Chihombori, the project aims to provide a platform for Africans to “tell their own story” and promote media decolonization. The authorization follows a shift from traditional frequencies to web media due to frequency availability and management complexities.
