Media training programs launched for journalists in Nigeria and Ghana
Media organizations in West Africa are conducting training programs to enhance journalistic skills. In Nigeria, 9mobile held a virtual capacity-building session focused on online content optimization. Facilitated by investigative journalist Adejuwon Soyinka, the session aimed to teach journalists how to engage Millennial and Gen-Z audiences through multimedia storytelling and platform-specific content production.
In Ghana, DW Akademie has launched a five-day workshop under the European Union-funded African Media Integrity and Resilience (AMIR) Programme. The training focuses on gender-sensitive reporting to help media professionals challenge harmful stereotypes and reduce bias. Senior Consultant Sheila Mysorekar emphasized that the initiative aims to improve the overall quality and fairness of journalism by addressing societal power relations and gender perceptions.
