MediaTek unveils Dimensity 9600 Pro and 9600M AI-native chips

MediaTek has announced a new lineup of flagship mobile processors, headlined by the Dimensity 9600 Pro and the Dimensity 9600M.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is built on TSMC’s 2nm process and features an AI-native architecture designed for the era of Agentic AI. It utilizes an all-big-core CPU configuration, including Arm C2-Ultra and C2-Pro cores, reaching clock speeds up to 4.55 GHz. The chip integrates a dual NPU architecture, including a high-performance NPU 1090, to improve LLM prefill performance and support on-device processing of up to 30B MoE models. It also includes an upgraded Mali-G2 Ultra NX GPU and Imagiq 1290 ISP for advanced imaging capabilities.

Complementing the Pro model, the Dimensity 9600M brings advanced AI features to a broader range of flagship devices. While it utilizes the 3nm N3P process and hardware similar to the Dimensity 9500, it incorporates the new Agentic AI Engine and Dimensity Scheduling Engine. This allows for improved task management and generative AI capabilities. The 9600M supports high-end specifications including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and up to 320MP camera sensors.
