Mediation and peacebuilding discussed at Stuttgart conference
A peace conference in Stuttgart highlighted the importance of mediation and civil society in resolving conflicts. A professional mediator emphasized that even when parties cannot tolerate one another, finding common interests can provide a sense of security that allows for the laying down of arms. The discussion noted that while historical examples like the détente of the 1970s or the end of the Cold War show the potential for diplomatic breakthroughs, there is currently a lack of majority support for peace-oriented political discourse in Germany.
Complementing the discussion on practical conflict resolution, WINGS has introduced a new modular educational concept. The institution is offering three Micro Degrees in conflict management and mediation, designed for professionals in fields such as human resources, law, and coaching. These programs include specialized training in family and business mediation, combining self-study with interactive seminars and practical exercises to meet the requirements of mediation laws.
