HírTV presenter Nóra Palányi fired after live broadcast incident

Mediaworks, the owner of HírTV and HírFM, has terminated the employment of presenter Nóra Palányi with immediate effect following a controversial incident during a live broadcast of the program ‘Paláver’ on September 15.

During the broadcast, an elderly female caller made violent remarks regarding Péter Magyar, inquiring if there was a “sniper” or “good marksman” in Hungary who could “eliminate” him. Mediaworks stated that Palányi committed a “extremely serious professional error” by failing to interrupt the caller immediately in accordance with established protocols and only distancing herself from the comments after a delay.

In addition to the dismissal, the company has launched an internal investigation to prevent similar occurrences in the future and has issued an apology to viewers, listeners, and all affected parties.
