Medical advancements enhance cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment

Medical institutions are advancing cardiovascular diagnostics through new technologies and artificial intelligence. In Mexico, the IMSS Siglo XXI National Medical Center has incorporated specialized tools to diagnose and treat cardiac arrhythmias. The Electrophysiology Service utilizes three-dimensional mapping, intracardiac ultrasound, contact-sensor catheters, and pulsed field ablation to identify electrical alterations and perform safer, faster procedures.

In Chile, researchers at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (USM) are developing an AI-driven platform to automate the analysis of cardiovascular magnetic resonance images. Led by Dr. Julio Sotelo, the project aims to transform qualitative diagnoses into precise numerical reports, specifically focusing on 4D Flow blood flow imaging. Through a collaboration with the Mayo Clinic, the technology is being expanded to study cerebrovascular blood flow to assist in diagnosing conditions such as aneurysms and vascular malformations.
