Medical advancements in organ and plasma donation in Argentina and Spain

In Argentina, the Córdoba Provincial Aeronautical Directorate (DPA) conducted a sanitary flight to facilitate an organ transplant. A K350 aircraft transported a hepatic transplant team from Córdoba Hospital to Rosario for an organ ablation procedure. Following the procedure, the organ was flown back to Córdoba for implantation. The operation was coordinated by the Córdoba Ablation and Implant Coordinating Entity (ECODAIC) to ensure rapid response times critical for transplant success.

In Spain, the Galician Organ and Blood Donation Agency (ADOS) has launched a plasmaféresis program across seven major cities. This initiative, part of the National Strategic Plan for Human Plasma Self-Sufficiency (Penap), allows donors to provide only the liquid component of blood while returning other components to the body. Eligible participants include individuals aged 18 to 70, weighing over 50 kilograms, who have donated blood conventionally at least twice. The program aims to increase voluntary plasma donations through mobile equipment at locations such as the Santiago de Compostela University Hospital Complex and the Nicolás Peña hospital in Vigo.
