Medical advancements reported in Frosinone and Campobasso hospitals

The Fabrizio Spaziani Hospital in Frosinone has initiated the reactivation of its orthopedic department. This move is part of a regional healthcare reorganization aimed at improving resource management and patient care integration within the Lazio region. Alessia Savo, president of the Health and Social Policies Commission of the Lazio Regional Council, noted that the reactivation is a step toward strengthening the provincial healthcare system and reducing patient mobility issues.

In Molise, the Antonio Cardarelli Hospital in Campobasso successfully performed the region's first femoral epiphysis tissue donation. Led by Dr. Giuseppe Melucci, the multidisciplinary team harvested the femoral head during a hip replacement surgery. Instead of being discarded as biological waste, the tissue will be sent to the Musculoskeletal Tissue Bank at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna. This donated tissue can be reused for complex skeletal reconstructions, orthopedic oncology, or prosthetic revisions for patients across Italy.
