Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria inducts 250 foreign‑trained doctors and dentists

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) held a pledge‑taking ceremony in Abuja, formally registering 250 foreign‑trained health professionals – 238 medical doctors and 12 dental surgeons – after they passed the council’s June 2026 assessment. The event was addressed by MDCN Registrar Prof. Fatima Kyari, who emphasized ethical practice and ongoing professional development, and by Coordinating Minister of Health Prof. Muhammad Pate (represented by Dr. Gloria Uzoigwe), who reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the health workforce.

Guest speaker Olusegun Adeniyi highlighted the severe doctor‑to‑patient ratio gap in Nigeria and warned that while social media can extend health outreach, misuse can spread misinformation, urging new practitioners to employ digital tools responsibly.
