Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria urges new Gombe doctors to prioritize compassion and teamwork

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) addressed newly inducted medical graduates of Gombe State University during the university's sixth induction ceremony and the third Prof. Idris Mohammed Lecture. Registrar Prof. Fatima Kyari, represented by Assistant Registrar Dr Ali Mandaka, emphasized that graduation marks the start of a lifelong commitment to compassionate, professional, and ethical practice. She urged the doctors to place patients’ dignity, empathy, and quality care at the centre of their work, and to collaborate respectfully with nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, physiotherapists and other health‑care staff. The council also called for respect toward senior colleagues and for senior professionals to mentor the newcomers, underscoring the need for teamwork and integrity in strengthening Nigeria’s health‑care system.
