Medical and therapeutic initiatives support pediatric patients in Poland

Various initiatives in Poland are focusing on the holistic support of children facing serious medical challenges, including cancer and amputations.

The Urtica Foundation for Children has concluded the 16th edition of its ‘Sunny Gallery’ project. During more than 1,000 hours of workshops, over 450 young oncology and hematology patients created nearly 800 paintings. These artworks will be featured in charity auctions to provide financial support for 18 pediatric oncology and hematology wards. The art therapy program aims to help children express complex emotions and regain a sense of agency amidst hospital routines.

Additionally, the VII Amputation Forum will be held in Krakow on October 23–24, 2026. The conference, themed ‘Time of Amputation,’ focuses on multidisciplinary cooperation between doctors, physiotherapists, prosthetists, and psychologists. Key topics include the rehabilitation of children with congenital limb defects or amputations, the use of bionic hand prostheses for children, and the psychological support required for families navigating life after a diagnosis.
