The Ordem dos Médicos (Medical Association) is seeking information from Infarmed to determine if the weight-loss medication Mounjaro is being prescribed correctly in Portugal.

Since its entry into the Portuguese market in 2024, the drug has seen significant commercial activity despite not being subsidized by the state. Recent reports indicate high sales volumes, with sales reaching over one million euros in a single day last week, and similar figures recorded over two days in August.
