Medical cases reported in Cam Khe, Phu Tho province

Medical professionals at the Cam Khe Regional Medical Center in Phu Tho province have treated two distinct cases involving potential complications from ingestion and infection.

A 16-month-old boy was hospitalized with pneumonia after accidentally ingesting lamp oil. Doctors noted that the oil, a hydrocarbon, entered his airway, causing respiratory distress. Following intensive treatment, the child's condition stabilized and he was discharged. Medical staff warned against attempting to induce vomiting at home, as this can push toxins further into the lungs.

Separately, a 62-year-old patient was treated for scrub typhus, an acute infectious disease caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi. The patient presented with high fever, chills, and a small, scabbed ulcer on the neck, which served as a key diagnostic indicator. Doctors emphasized that scrub typhus, transmitted by mite larvae, can lead to severe complications such as pneumonia or multi-organ failure if not identified early through careful skin examination.
