Medical congresses address menopause and women's health

Medical specialists are hosting international and national congresses to address menopause and its impact on women's long-term health and autonomy.

In Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the Dominican Society of Menopause and Osteoporosis (SODOMO) is holding its VII International Congress of Menopause and Osteoporosis. The event focuses on bone health, cardiovascular health, hormone therapy, nutrition, and diagnostic innovation. Dr. Frank Cabrera, president of SODOMO, emphasized that the goal is not just to extend life, but to ensure women live with health and autonomy. The World Health Organization notes that perimenopause can affect physical, emotional, and social well-being, and that bone density loss increases the risk of osteoporosis.

In Torreón, Mexico, the second National Congress, ‘Mujeres sin reglas, menopausia consciente,’ will focus on health and well-being for women aged 40 and older. Organized by SER Integral A.C. in collaboration with the Coahuila Government's Secretariat of Women, the event aims to increase access to information and reduce social stigmas. Mayra Valdés González, Secretary of Women, highlighted that menopause discussions are also linked to women's rights and the necessity of informed health decisions.
