Medical emergencies reported in Argentina and Chile

In Argentina, Víctor Castillo has died following a severe fire in Angaco. Castillo had been hospitalized in intensive care at the Marcial Quiroga Hospital since August 23, suffering from burns covering 31.5% of his body and severe respiratory complications. Medical reports indicated systemic instability and renal dysfunction prior to his death on August 30. Another individual, Miriam Ester Irrazábal, was also injured in the incident, and the property sustained significant structural damage. Authorities are conducting investigations to determine the cause of the fire.

In Chile, medical professionals utilized telemedicine to assist a family isolated by road closures in Taltal. Saúl Castillo, 47, required medical evaluation while in the Punta de Plata sector during a recent climate emergency. Because damaged routes prevented physical transport, the acting director of the Hospital Regional de Antofagasta, Dr. Pedro Usedo, coordinated care via telephone. The physician monitored symptoms and provided instructions to the family, ensuring the patient's condition was managed until improvements were noted.
